Job Description – Laying Farm Supervisor

Location: Poultry Laying Farms, Ivy House Farm Office, Farlesthorpe, Alford
Department: Agriculture
Reports to: Agriculture Manager

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Laying Farm Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day management of multiple laying farms, ensuring the highest standards of bird welfare, biosecurity and egg production.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing farm teams, maintaining compliance with industry standards and driving operational performance across several sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of multiple laying farms, ensuring excellent standards of bird welfare and flock management.
  • Supervise and support farm staff, providing training, guidance and performance management.
  • Monitor flock health, production performance and egg quality, taking action where required.
  • Ensure feed, water, lighting and environmental controls are maintained to optimise production.
  • Manage biosecurity procedures, including disease prevention, pest control and hygiene standards.
  • Maintain accurate production, health and compliance records.
  • Prepare for and manage external inspections and audits, including DEFRA, BEIC Lion Code, RSPCA Assured and Environmental Permit requirements.
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed across all sites.
  • Work closely with the Agriculture Manager, vets and nutritionists to maximise flock performance.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, site presentation and equipment maintenance.

About You

  • Previous experience in a poultry laying farm supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of laying hen welfare, husbandry and commercial egg production.
  • Experience managing and motivating farm teams.
  • Good understanding of biosecurity, animal health and poultry legislation.
  • Experience working with industry audits and compliance standards.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
