We are currently recruiting for a Service & Fault-Finding Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Andover.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on diagnosing, repairing and preventing electrical, mechanical and control-system faults across specialist industrial machinery.

You'll work closely with field service, engineering and manufacturing teams to get equipment back up and running, while also looking beyond the immediate fault to identify root causes and preventative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control-system faults.
  • Carry out structured fault-finding and root-cause analysis.
  • Identify recurring machine faults and implement solutions to prevent repeat failures.
  • Work alongside engineering and manufacturing teams to improve machine reliability and serviceability.
  • Recommend and implement preventative maintenance, component upgrades and machine modifications.
  • Provide feedback from field service activities to support future machine design and development.
  • Help develop preventative maintenance schedules and servicing procedures.
  • Record and analyse service issues to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work proactively to reduce customer downtime and improve machine availability.
  • Provide technical support both remotely and on customer sites when required.

About You

We're looking for an engineer with strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience, ideally gained within machinery, automation, manufacturing or industrial equipment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery, automation or control systems.
  • A methodical approach to fault-finding and problem solving.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, control panels and machine assembly.
  • Knowledge of sensors, motors, drives, relays and other control components.
  • Basic C++ programming experience, or the ability and willingness to develop this.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance or engineering improvements would be advantageous.
  • A proactive approach to identifying ways of improving machine reliability.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers.
  • The ability to follow processes and control measures effectively.
  • A full UK driving licence.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys getting to the root cause of a problem rather than simply fixing the immediate fault.

You'll have the opportunity to play a key role in improving machine reliability, reducing repeat failures and feeding your experience back into the wider engineering and manufacturing operation.

If you're an experienced Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Electrical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with strong fault-finding ability, we'd be keen to hear from you.
