Electrical Engineering | MEICA / EICA | Water & Wastewater | LV | MCCs | ICA | Commissioning
Do you enjoy being close to the action, solving technical problems and seeing electrical engineering projects through from design and installation to testing and commissioning?
Looking to work across major UK water infrastructure projects where you'll combine your technical knowledge with hands-on site delivery?
CHG Electrical is entering an exciting period of growth, with major frameworks secured across AMP8 and AMP9.
We're looking for a proactive, technically capable Field Electrical Project Engineer to support the delivery of electrical engineering works across our growing portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
This isn't simply a design role, and it isn't a traditional Project Manager position.
You'll sit at the heart of engineering delivery, working between the office, project teams and live sites to ensure electrical systems are installed, tested and commissioned safely, correctly and to specification.

Who We Are
Founded in Sheffield in 2004, CHG Electrical has more than two decades of engineering heritage.
Built on strong electrical engineering foundations, the business has evolved into a multidisciplinary engineering partner delivering complex projects across water utilities, rail, steel and manufacturing.
Today, our capabilities span MEICA, EICAT, civil engineering, control-panel design and manufacture, automation, software and digital transformation. We support projects from initial design through installation and commissioning to long-term maintenance.
With major frameworks secured across AMP8 and AMP9, we're now entering a significant period of project delivery and technical growth.
The Opportunity
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, site teams and clients to support electrical delivery across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
It's a varied role that takes you across the full engineering lifecycle.
You'll review electrical designs and specifications, prepare and review RAMS, coordinate installation activities, support procurement and work alongside site teams to resolve technical issues.
You'll then remain involved through testing, fault finding, commissioning and successful project handover.
One day you might be reviewing drawings or coordinating equipment requirements in Sheffield. The next, you could be on a live water site working with subcontractors to resolve an installation or commissioning issue.
If you like seeing engineering make it off the drawing and into the real world, you'll feel at home here.
Where You'll Make an Impact
Support Technical & Engineering Delivery
• Review electrical designs, specifications and drawings against project and client requirements.
• Ensure electrical works comply with WIMES, BS 7671, client specifications and relevant industry standards.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments and multidisciplinary engineering meetings.
• Identify technical issues and help develop practical solutions that protect quality and programme.
• Work closely with Project Managers and engineering teams throughout delivery.
Coordinate Successful Site Delivery
• Coordinate electrical installation activities across water and utilities infrastructure sites.
• Work closely with site teams and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely and to specification.
• Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) ahead of site activities.
• Monitor progress and proactively identify installation or technical challenges.
• Support the procurement and purchasing of electrical equipment, materials and subcontract services.
Test, Commission & Hand Over
• Support electrical testing, fault finding, commissioning and system verification.
• Help ensure electrical installations perform correctly before final handover.
• Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation.
• Support completion, handover and close-out activities.
About You
You'll already have practical electrical engineering experience gained within water, utilities or industrial infrastructure.
You'll understand that good engineering doesn't stop with the drawing.
You'll be comfortable getting onto site, working alongside installation teams and subcontractors, interpreting technical information and helping solve the practical problems that arise when engineering designs become physical systems.
Experience within water and wastewater infrastructure would be particularly valuable, including environments such as pumping stations, treatment works and process plant.
You'll Bring
• Proven electrical engineering or electrical project delivery experience within water, utilities or industrial infrastructure.
• Practical experience supporting electrical installation and commissioning activities.
• Knowledge of electrical systems associated with pumping stations, treatment works and/or industrial plant.
• Experience working with electrical systems such as LV, MCCs and ICA equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical designs, specifications and drawings.
• Understanding of WIMES, BS 7671 and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing RAMS and coordinating safe site activities.
• Confidence working with site teams and subcontractors.
• Strong technical problem-solving and fault-finding capability.
• Confidence working across both office and live site environments.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

You'll Also Receive:
• £45,000 - £50,000 salary DOE.
• Car allowance / van.
• Performance-based bonus scheme.
• Hybrid and flexible working.
• 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
• Structured professional development and training.
