Field Service Engineer – Full Training Provided
Suffolk / Norfolk – Field Based
Salary dependent on experience + Paid Overtime + Company Van + Benefits
Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5.30pm
Are you practical, technically minded and good at solving problems?
Perhaps you’ve worked in PAT testing, telecoms, cabling, security systems, field installation or another hands-on technical role and are looking for an opportunity to develop into a Field Service Engineer.
You do not need to be a fully qualified or highly experienced engineer for this position. Our client is happy to provide comprehensive training and is much more interested in finding someone reliable, capable and keen to learn.
You’ll be home-based in the Suffolk/Norfolk area, travelling to customer sites to install, service, maintain and fault-find a range of specialist electronic and communication equipment.
What you’ll be doing
- Travelling to customer sites across the UK to carry out installations, servicing and repairs
- Learning how to diagnose faults and achieve a first-time fix wherever possible
- Installing and maintaining specialist electronic and communication systems
- Planning your workload and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently
- Managing the tools, equipment and spares held within your company vehicle
- Completing straightforward job documentation following site visits
- Working independently while having the support of an experienced service team
- Occasionally working evenings or weekends where a customer project requires it, with overtime paid
- Staying away from home overnight when required
What we’re looking for
You don't need years of engineering experience. This could be a great next move if you have some practical or technical experience and want to build a proper career in field engineering.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Some hands-on technical experience in a field based role – PAT testing, telecoms, cabling, installation, maintenance or similar would be particularly relevant
- A practical mindset and confidence using tools
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
- A professional, personable approach with customers
- The confidence to work independently and organise your own day
- Good attention to detail
- A willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away occasionally
- A full UK driving licence
A CSCS card would be useful, but is not essential.
Why apply?
- Full training provided – you don't need to arrive as an experienced Field Service Engineer
- Excellent opportunity to build a long-term technical career
- Varied role – you're not stuck in the same workplace doing the same thing every day
- Company van provided, with the option for personal use
- Paid overtime
- Pension
- Optional healthcare
- Plenty of independence once trained
- Opportunity to develop your technical knowledge across a specialist range of equipment
This would particularly suit someone who enjoys being out on the road, working with their hands and solving practical problems, and who wants an employer willing to invest in their development.
