An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join an established engineering business delivering specialist equipment and technical solutions to customers across a range of industries.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining workshop-based engineering with customer site work. You will be responsible for installing and commissioning equipment, carrying out servicing and repairs, diagnosing technical issues and providing ongoing support to customers in the UK and internationally.
With approximately 50% of the role involving travel, this would suit an engineer who enjoys working in different environments, solving technical problems and dealing directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission and support specialist engineering equipment at customer sites.
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs and equipment upgrades.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and control system faults.
- Carry out testing, calibration and equipment optimisation.
- Support software updates and system improvements where required.
- Provide technical support to customers by telephone, email and remote access.
- Assist customers in maximising equipment performance and reliability.
- Deliver operator and maintenance training to customers.
- Complete service reports, technical documentation and work instructions.
- Support equipment testing and development activities at the company's facilities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product development initiatives.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant quality and compliance requirements.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong practical engineering background and a genuine interest in fault-finding, commissioning and customer support.
You will ideally have:
- An engineering apprenticeship, HNC, HND, degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years' experience within field service, commissioning, maintenance, engineering support or a similar environment.
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving technical problems independently.
- Experience working with industrial machinery, automation or process equipment would be advantageous.
- Experience of installation and commissioning.
- Good understanding of electrical control systems and/or PLC-controlled equipment would be beneficial.
- Experience of testing, calibration or equipment optimisation would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with customers.
- A customer-focused approach and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid passport and willingness to undertake UK and international travel.
