Field Service Engineer - Electrical

Salary: £35,000 - £43,000 per year
We're looking for an electrically trained Field Service Engineer to install, service, test, fault-find, commission and repair specialist laboratory containment equipment across the UK.
You'll need strong electrical testing and fault-finding skills, previous field service experience and the confidence to work independently at customer sites.
The role involves nationwide travel, with occasional overnight stays required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing of specialist equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, electronic and mechanical faults.
- Install, commission and test new equipment at customer sites.
- Complete electrical safety testing, inspection and verification in line with company procedures.
- Carry out airflow performance and functional testing following full training.
- Complete service, testing and certification documentation accurately.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Repair and replace electrical and mechanical components.
- Calibrate and verify equipment performance where required.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers.
- Maintain the company vehicle, tools and calibrated test equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health & safety legislation and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain a professional approach when working at customer sites.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Electrical Service Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Testing & Commissioning Engineer.
- Experience with electrical testing, inspection and fault diagnosis.
- Competent using electrical test equipment, including:
- Digital multimeters
- Continuity testers
- Insulation resistance testers
- PAT equipment (desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience working safely on electrical equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away overnight when required.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll be a practical and self-sufficient engineer with strong electrical knowledge, excellent diagnostic skills and a professional approach to working with customers.
Experience within the laboratory, clean air, ventilation or containment sectors would be advantageous, but full product training will be provided.
