Field Service Engineer

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers and travelling to vessels both in the UK and internationally.
The Role Working as part of a specialist service team, you will be responsible for travelling to vessels to install, commission, service and repair complex marine systems. When not travelling, you will provide technical support from the company's UK office.
The role will involve a combination of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system troubleshooting, requiring a practical and analytical approach to fault finding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional on-site installation, commissioning, servicing and repair support
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system issues
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics and service documentation
- Provide technical support to customers and colleagues when office-based
- Complete service reports, timesheets and associated documentation accurately
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism
- Work independently while managing deadlines and priorities
- Travel to customer vessels across the UK and internationally as required
Ideally, you will have:
- At least 2 years' experience assembling, servicing, commissioning or troubleshooting machinery or technical systems
- Good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and technical manuals
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on, practical approach to engineering
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Good IT skills and the ability to complete service and parts documentation
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
- Full willingness and ability to undertake UK and international travel
- Previous marine engineering experience is highly desirable

You should be comfortable working under pressure, able to think logically when diagnosing faults and committed to delivering a high-quality service.
