Field Service Engineer – PLC Fault Finding – Special Purpose Machinery – UK & International Travel – £44-48k + Van + Overtime + Site Allowances
Samuel Frank is recruiting for an electrically biased Field Service Engineer to join a well-established special purpose machinery manufacturer based in the North West. This role will suit an Electrical Engineer who enjoys fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery and wants to travel internationally whilst developing their commissioning skills.
Key aspects of the Field Service Engineer role include;
- Electrically biased Field Service Engineer role working on bespoke PLC-controlled special purpose machinery
- Fault finding on electrical control systems, sensors, safety circuits, drives and PLC-controlled equipment
- PLC software modifications aren't essential, but you'll work alongside experienced Controls Engineers and have the opportunity to develop commissioning and PLC software skills over time
- UK and international travel, typically 1-3 weeks at a time, with overseas travel expected to be around 30-50% of the year
- Carrying out installation, commissioning, fault finding, servicing and breakdown support at customer sites
- Working on a wide range of automated machinery used within industrial manufacturing environments
- When not travelling, you'll be based at the company's East Lancashire facility supporting machine build, testing and factory acceptance activities
- Electrical qualification (ONC/HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) is essential
- Experience fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery is far more important than being able to write PLC software
- Knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or similar PLC platforms would be advantageous
- Experience of food manufacturing or packaging machinery would be useful but isn't essential
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to travel internationally are essential
- 37-hour working week with overtime paid at single rate Monday-Friday, x1.5 on Saturdays and x2 on Sundays and Bank Holidays when working away

The company's premises are commutable from Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Burnley, Blackburn, Accrington, Bolton, Hebden Bridge, Stalybridge, Denton, Nelson and surrounding areas.
