My client is now recruiting for a Field Service Engineer in the South West 0f London area Previous experience as a Vehical Technician is essential for this job and your role is to provide an efficient and competent response to planned, reactive and ad-hoc repairs and service inspections to customers vehicles within an acceptable timescale

This is a team-based position, managing breakdown calls and planned Prepaid Maintenance visits, reporting to Service manager via the service desk.

It is a Permanent Full Time position.

  • Competitive salary with realistic OTE between 38k-50k

Starting from your location most work is achievable within a day but early starts and late finishes are sometimes unavoidable, possible late-notice overnight stays may on rare occasion be required. Weekend call-out availability will occasionally be requested

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sending and receiving jobs via PDA / Laptop
  • Gauging travel time to site and planning the following days work.
  • Carrying out Planned maintenance, breakdown support, Quoted repair work
  •  Liaising with customer and discussing the task at hand
  • Discussing work progress with the service desk and managing remedial works
  • Maintaining stock levels in service van
  • Monitoring service van condition and general cleanliness
  • Working both independently & in teams when workload requires
  • Communicating with other engineers to assist the team with technical advice and guidance.

Key Skills

  • Qualified & time served engineer from either an automotive or plant background the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience the role would suit someone from a forklift/ agriculture / HGV or LGV background.
  • Strong electrical knowledge Can BUS, diagnosing electrical faults, using diagnostic equipment (Training provided)
  • Knowledge or working with traction batteries (Training provided)
  • Clean driving licence
  • Ability to work under your own initiative to solve problems
  • Happy to work independently and in a team
  • Well organised individual with excellent time management
  • Willing to learn and progress with the company.
  • You are required to provide your own Hand Tools common to the trade, all specific tools and heavy equipment including electrical tools provided by the business.
