Field Technician - Medical Equipment

Location: North West England (covering Liverpool, Crewe, and Llandudno and surrounding areas)
Salary: £29,000 + bonus + van + benefits

Are you a technician or engineer looking to break into the medical sector - without needing prior medical experience?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established third-party engineering company that is the UK market leader in testing and calibrating primary care medical equipment. They support GP surgeries, community rehab facilities, care homes, and some hospitals, ensuring essential devices are safe, accurate, and fully compliant.

Importantly, this is not a repair role. You'll be responsible for testing and calibrating low-risk medical equipment such as:

  • Defibrillators
  • Thermometers
  • Medical weighing scales
  • Pulse oximeters
  • Other primary care diagnostic devices

The Role

You'll travel to customer sites across the North West region (Liverpool through to Crewe and across to Llandudno), carrying out planned testing and calibration work.

This is a field-based, customer-facing role, so strong communication skills and professionalism are just as important as technical ability.

  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (typically 08:00 - 15:30 on-site)
  • Overtime: No regular requirement (very occasional Saturday work if needed)
  • Travel: Occasional staying away (hotel, expenses, and additional allowance provided)
  • Manage your own schedule and maintain strong customer relationships, including rebooking annual service visits

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering experience in the UK (1+ year preferred)
  • Strong junior engineers (6+ months) considered if technically capable and motivated
  • Comfortable working in a field-based role with regular travel across the region
  • Customer-facing experience (on-site or remote support)
  • Physically fit - the role involves pushing/pulling a trolley with up to 150kg of test weights

Personality is key - they're looking for motivated, reliable engineers with strong people skills and a willingness to learn and develop.

Package

  • £29,000 basic salary
  • Monthly goodwill bonus
  • Company van
  • 24 days holiday rising to 27 after 5 years + bank holidays
  • Staying away allowance (with hotel and expenses covered)

If you're hands-on, technically minded, and looking to build a long-term career within a stable and growing medical engineering business, this is a great opportunity to enter a specialist sector with genuine progression.
