Our client is a well-established service and engineering business operating across the North East. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to join their close-knit and supportive technical team.

No previous industry experience is required. Full training will be provided. The company is far more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, practical aptitude and willingness to learn than someone with direct industry experience.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist electromechanical equipment across customer sites throughout the North East.

The role offers a varied and rewarding workload, combining equipment installation, planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs and customer support.

You'll spend the majority of your time travelling between customer sites, managing your own route and daily schedule while being supported by an experienced and approachable technical team.

Typical responsibilities include:

* Installing specialist electromechanical equipment
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
* Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and equipment faults
* Completing repairs and component replacements
* Maintaining accurate service records and job documentation
* Building strong relationships with customers
* Managing van stock and equipment readiness
* Supporting emergency breakdown call-outs on a rotational basis
* Identifying potential issues before they lead to equipment failure

The role covers customer sites across North East England, with travel forming a key part of the position.

What We're Looking For

Essential

* Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 6 points)
* Practical hands-on experience using tools
* Strong mechanical aptitude
* Good problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn
* Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently
* Strong work ethic and pride in delivering quality workmanship

Desirable

* Maintenance, service or repair experience
* Plumbing or mechanical fitting experience
* Technical fault-finding experience
* Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge
* Previous field service experience
* Experience working in a customer-facing environment
