Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions is hiring for a highly organised and detail‑driven Finance Assistant to support the commercial and finance teams on a prestigious Ministry of Defence (MoD) facilities management contract. This role is ideal for someone who is part‑qualified (AAT or similar) or actively studying, with strong transactional finance experience. This opportunity will offer a clear path through finance or can open doors into Commercial or Quantity Surveying career.
Full study support will be provided, alongside structured development within a complex, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise accurate client invoices using the client billing system, including preparation of detailed spreadsheets for bulk uploads.
- Duplicate and maintain invoice data within SAP Connect to ensure internal financial consistency.
- Track invoicing progress, monitor payment status, and follow up to ensure receipt in line with agreed terms.
- Liaise with operational and commercial teams to investigate and resolve invoice queries or discrepancies.
- Receive, verify, and process subcontractor invoices through internal approval workflows.
- Ensure correct application of CIS and Domestic Reverse Charge (DRC) requirements, with full supporting documentation.
- Maintain robust audit trails to support internal controls and external audits.
- Support month‑end processes, including Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Monitor financial data for accuracy, identifying variances, omissions, or errors and escalating as required.
- Maintain accurate financial records across SAP Connect and Maximo, ensuring compliance with internal policies, contractual terms, and MoD requirements.
About You
- Due to the nature of the MoD contract, Security Clearance (SC) is required or the ability to obtain it.
- Part‑qualified AAT (or studying towards AAT / finance qualification).
- Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts, or commercial support role.
- Strong experience with invoicing, spreadsheets, and transactional finance processes.
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Confident Excel user (data tracking, reconciliations, uploads).
- Willingness to learn and progress within a commercial or finance environment.
