Finance Assistant

Are you a Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant looking for a broad role with genuine responsibility and the opportunity to progress? This is an excellent opportunity to join a small but well established and growing manufacturing business in Gloucester. You'll become an important part of a friendly finance team, taking responsibility across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, VAT, bookkeeping and month-end, with the opportunity to develop towards Management Accounts.

The business is committed to developing its people and will provide study support for further professional qualifications (if required).

The Role

You'll have a varied role within the finance function, with responsibility for:

• Purchase and Sales Ledger
• Bank reconciliations and payment runs
• VAT returns and postponed import VAT accounting
• Bookkeeping and financial record keeping
• Supporting month-end and Management Accounts
• Financial reporting and analysis using Excel
• Customer and supplier account queries
• Credit reviews and new customer checks
• Supporting the leadership team with ad hoc finance projects

About You

We're open to candidates ranging from a Finance Assistant through to an Assistant Accountant looking for their next step.

You'll ideally have:

• Solid experience within a finance/accounts environment
• Good knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and bookkeeping
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• AAT qualified or studying towards AAT (desirable rather than essential)
• Good understanding of month-end processes
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• A proactive, commercially minded approach and the confidence to work independently
