Finance Business Partner (Enhanced)

Contract Type: Permanent
Sector: Banking
Location: Home-based / Bolton, BL6 6SU as required
Hours: 40 per week

Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Finance Business Partner (Enhanced) to take end-to-end ownership of month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, cost control, business reviews, and commercial decision support.

This position provides clear financial leadership in a tight-margin environment, requiring the ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful, actionable insights for operational and commercial stakeholders. The role is focused on adding value through high-quality analysis and influencing decision-making.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role consolidates responsibilities traditionally spread across multiple finance positions. The emphasis is on insight-led support rather than transactional finance, ensuring efficiency, control, and measurable commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for the timely and accurate month-end close, ensuring strong financial control and reporting integrity
  • Own month-end reporting, including P&L variance analysis, balance sheet review (including GRNI and purchase order accruals), and working capital oversight
  • Deliver KPI reporting and run-rate analysis to support operational performance tracking
  • Lead monthly operational finance reviews, presenting clear financial insights and driving corrective actions to improve margins
  • Act as the primary finance contact, providing a consistent and credible financial perspective across the business
  • Prepare and deliver internal business reviews, including performance commentary, risks, opportunities, and ownership of actions
  • Manage payroll, labour, and cost analysis, challenging variances and partnering with operations to control spend
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including planning tools, purchase order governance, accruals, and commercial support for contract changes

Person Specification

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Proven experience managing financial performance within a complex contract or business unit
  • Strong commercial awareness, particularly within tight-margin environments
  • Demonstrable ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Advanced capability in month-end processes, forecasting, and financial control
  • Ability to work independently within a lean finance structure
  • Pragmatic, outcome-focused mindset with resilience under pressure
  • Strong judgement, prioritisation skills, and confidence in cost-constrained settings
