Finance Control and Reconciliation Analyst
Dudley Building Society
At Dudley Building Society, we're here to help people live better lives. As one of the UK's fastest-growing building societies, with a proud heritage and ambitious plans for the future, we're looking for a Finance Control and Reconciliation Analyst to join our Finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with detail, takes pride in accuracy and wants to play an important part in maintaining strong financial controls. You'll support the smooth day-to-day running of our Finance function, completing reconciliations, processing financial transactions, investigating differences and helping us continue to improve how we work.
You'll work closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations and other areas of the Society to make sure financial information is accurate, timely and complete, while contributing to a strong, well-controlled finance environment.
The role
As our Finance Control and Reconciliation Analyst, you'll support the effective operation of the Finance function through the processing of financial transactions, maintenance of financial records, completion of reconciliations and operation of key financial controls.
The role combines operational finance responsibilities, including payments processing and purchase ledger management, with responsibility for maintaining accurate reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and supporting continuous improvement across the Society.
What you'll be doing
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations across finance and operational accounts, investigating and resolving any differences.
- Maintain clear supporting evidence and help ensure key financial controls are operating effectively.
- Process financial transactions, including bank credits and debits, authorised payments, purchase ledger activity and related accounting records.
- Support treasury, mortgage and savings payment activity, while responding to finance-related queries from colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Assist with month-end processes, journals, analysis and information needed for reporting, audit and regulatory activity.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate or improve reconciliation processes, supporting better use of systems, spreadsheets and reporting tools while maintaining clear procedure notes to support consistency, resilience and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance, Operations and other relevant teams, building effective relationships with process owners to resolve reconciliation queries, agree actions and promote good financial control practice.
What we're looking for
- Someone who is organised, accurate and comfortable working with financial information.
- Experience in finance controls and reconciliations, with the confidence to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Ideally, someone who has worked within a bank, building society or wider financial services environment.
- Experience in finance administration, payments, purchase ledger or financial control activities.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain clear, accurate records.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to ask questions, highlight issues and support process improvements.
- Someone who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues to resolve queries and get things right.
