An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Finance Manager - Capital and Reporting to join a high-performing Financial Accounting team within a leading NHS organisation. This role offers the opportunity to lead on capital, fixed asset and lease accounting while supporting the delivery of robust financial reporting, governance and compliance across a large and complex organisation.
The successful candidate will act as the organisation's specialist lead on capital and lease accounting matters, ensuring compliance with IFRS, NHS accounting requirements, and statutory reporting obligations.
- Lead all aspects of capital accounting across the organisation.
- Provide specialist advice on the accounting treatment of capital projects, investments and major schemes.
- Support the development of capital programmes through financial analysis, modelling and forecasting.
- Produce capital monitoring reports for senior leadership teams, Boards and Committees.
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy and integrity of records.
- Lead lease accounting activities, including management of lease registers, right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations relating to capital, assets and liabilities.
- Lead on annual accounts disclosures relating to capital expenditure, leases and fixed assets.
- Act as the key contact for external auditors in relation to capital and lease accounting matters.
- Drive continuous improvement across accounting processes, reporting tools and financial controls.
- Deliver specialist advice and training to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Essential
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) or finalist with significant relevant experience.
- Significant experience in financial accounting.
- Experience of capital and fixed asset accounting. [
- Experience of lease accounting.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting year-end processes.
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- Experience working with internal and external auditors.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within an NHS organisation. [
- Experience working with large capital programmes. [
- NHS finance qualifications or relevant postgraduate study.
