A well-established and highly regarded business services group based near Shrewsbury is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join its senior finance team. This is a broad, hands-on role with genuine scope to shape how the finance function operates — the kind of position where your input will be visible, valued and quickly felt across the wider business.

If you're a qualified or finalist-level accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with a strong grounding in commercial finance and you're ready to step into a role with real ownership, this one is worth a serious look.

What you'll be doing:
  • Leading month-end and year-end processes from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Producing management accounts, board packs and financial reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to sharpen commercial decision-making
  • Business partnering with department heads and operational managers — providing insight, challenge and support where it counts
  • Managing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Preparing statutory accounts and acting as a key point of contact for external auditors
  • Reviewing and strengthening internal financial controls, processes and reporting
  • Managing, mentoring and developing a small finance team
  • Driving process improvements and contributing to finance systems development
What we're looking for:
  • Qualified or finalist ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Strong all-round finance experience gained in a commercial or business services environment
  • Confident with month-end, statutory reporting and management accounts production
  • Solid grounding in UK GAAP and current financial reporting standards
  • Advanced Excel skills, plus experience working with mid-tier or enterprise finance systems
  • Commercially minded — able to look beyond the numbers and add real strategic value
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organised, deadline-driven and calm under pressure
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring team members would be an advantage
