We are now seeking an experienced, autonomous, and proactive Finance Manager to oversee our day-to-day financial operations and administrative functions.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a versatile finance professional who thrives in an SME environment. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will take full ownership of the finance department, ensuring deadlines are met and business requirements are fulfilled smoothly. You will be the main point of contact for all financial matters, balancing core accounting with essential administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
Invoicing & Orders: Input sales/purchase orders, raise sales invoices, and process purchase invoices.
Banking & Cash Flow: Input bank and credit card transactions, perform regular bank reconciliations, and handle credit control.
Project Costing: Review and track project costs to support our engineering contracts.
Payments & Expenses: Process staff expenses and prepare supplier/subcontractor payment lists.
Commercial Support: Raise formal purchase orders and prepare Payment Applications for commercial projects.
Compliance: Process and submit quarterly VAT returns and maintain clear compliance standards.
Relationship Building: Act as the primary financial contact, building strong professional relationships with suppliers and clients.
Person Specification Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dedicated finance or accounting role.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience using Sage 50.
Fully qualified AAT Level 3, CIMA, or explicitly Qualified by Experience (QBE).
Solid understanding of UK VAT regulations and SME financial processes.
Proven ability to work autonomously, manage your own workload, and meet strict deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel).
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
Prior experience utilising Sage Projects (highly advantageous).
Understanding or experience of the commercial tender process.
