Anderson Knight is recruiting for a part-qualified experienced Finance Manager to join a well-established business in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining hands-on financial management with team leadership and business partnering.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the finance function operates efficiently, delivering accurate financial information while supporting and developing a Finance Assistant.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of key accounting processes, ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and delivered within agreed deadlines. Your responsibilities will include:
•    Producing monthly management accounts, analysing financial performance and providing meaningful commentary on key movements and variances.
•    Preparing and processing journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
•    Managing the company's fixed asset register, including capital expenditure, disposals and depreciation.
•    Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
•    Supporting the year-end audit process by preparing schedules, assisting with statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors.
•    Cashflow forecasting, highlighting any key changes within the process
•    Oversee, mentor and develop 3 transactional staff, ensuring you provide day to day support and training
About You
We're looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading a small finance team. You'll ideally have:
•    Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA status.
•    Previous experience in a supervisory or management position within a finance function.
•    Strong experience preparing management accounts and overseeing month-end processes.
•    Sound knowledge of accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and balance sheet controls.
•    Experience preparing VAT returns and supporting external audits.
•    Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
•    A proactive approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•    Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
•    Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
