Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and administration. This is a unique opportunity to combine finance, governance, administration, and community engagement within a well-established organisation that plays an important role in the local area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the finances, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, supporting meetings, and overseeing various operational and administrative functions.
This position would suit someone with previous experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or business administration who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in delivering accurate and professional support.
What You'll Be Doing
β Managing all day-to-day financial operations, including payments, receipts, banking, and reconciliations
β Preparing budgets, financial reports, quarterly management accounts, and year-end financial information
β Maintaining accurate accounting records and preparing documentation for internal and external audits
β Managing VAT returns, payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other financial obligations
β Monitoring budgets and providing financial information to support decision-making
β Maintaining the asset register and financial records
β Preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation for meetings
β Attending meetings and producing accurate minutes and records of decisions
β Managing correspondence, emails, telephone enquiries, and requests
β Liaising with contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and members of the public
β Coordinating maintenance schedules, inspections, bookings, and contractor activities
β Maintaining policies, records, website content, and social media communications
β Supporting compliance with statutory requirements including Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation
β Assisting with election administration, governance matters, and general Council operations
What We're Looking For
π‘ Previous experience within Finance, Bookkeeping, Accounts, Payroll, or a similar financial administration role
π‘ Strong understanding of financial processes, budgeting, reconciliations, and reporting
π‘ Experience preparing information for audits and maintaining accurate financial records
π‘ Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
π‘ Strong organisational and time management skills
π‘ Confident communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
π‘ Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
π‘ Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently
