Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a varied and rewarding role within a community-focused organisation?

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and administration. This is a unique opportunity to combine finance, governance, administration, and community engagement within a well-established organisation that plays an important role in the local area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the finances, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, supporting meetings, and overseeing various operational and administrative functions.

This position would suit someone with previous experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or business administration who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in delivering accurate and professional support.

What You'll Be Doing

βœ” Managing all day-to-day financial operations, including payments, receipts, banking, and reconciliations

βœ” Preparing budgets, financial reports, quarterly management accounts, and year-end financial information

βœ” Maintaining accurate accounting records and preparing documentation for internal and external audits

βœ” Managing VAT returns, payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other financial obligations

βœ” Monitoring budgets and providing financial information to support decision-making

βœ” Maintaining the asset register and financial records

βœ” Preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation for meetings

βœ” Attending meetings and producing accurate minutes and records of decisions

βœ” Managing correspondence, emails, telephone enquiries, and requests

βœ” Liaising with contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and members of the public

βœ” Coordinating maintenance schedules, inspections, bookings, and contractor activities

βœ” Maintaining policies, records, website content, and social media communications

βœ” Supporting compliance with statutory requirements including Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation

βœ” Assisting with election administration, governance matters, and general Council operations

What We're Looking For

πŸ’‘ Previous experience within Finance, Bookkeeping, Accounts, Payroll, or a similar financial administration role

πŸ’‘ Strong understanding of financial processes, budgeting, reconciliations, and reporting

πŸ’‘ Experience preparing information for audits and maintaining accurate financial records

πŸ’‘ Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

πŸ’‘ Strong organisational and time management skills

πŸ’‘ Confident communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with a wide range of stakeholders

πŸ’‘ Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

πŸ’‘ Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently
