Finance Officer – Somerset

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Officer to join a Multi-Academy Trust in Somerset on a full-time temporary basis, providing sickness cover.

The successful candidate will provide financial and administrative support to the Trust, ensuring financial processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

Previous experience working within a school, academy or Multi-Academy Trust environment is highly desirable, and experience using PSS software would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Trust

  • Processing invoices, purchase orders and payments

  • Maintaining accurate financial records

  • Assisting with financial reconciliations and reporting

  • Supporting budget monitoring and expenditure tracking

  • Processing and maintaining financial documentation

  • Liaising with schools, suppliers and other stakeholders regarding financial queries

  • Ensuring financial procedures and processes are followed correctly

  • Providing administrative support to the finance team

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust

Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a finance role is essential

  • Experience working within a school, academy or Multi-Academy Trust is highly desirable

  • Experience using PSF software would be advantageous

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Good IT skills and confidence working with financial systems and spreadsheets

  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

  • A professional and proactive approach

  • Available to start ASAP

Safeguarding & Compliance

As this is a school-based role, all candidates will be required to successfully complete Supply Register's full vetting and compliance process prior to commencing work.

This will include:

  • A minimum of two satisfactory employer references covering the previous 24 months

  • Three references where the candidate has not previously worked with children

  • Where there are gaps in employment, a professional character reference will be required

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred

  • Candidates without a DBS on the Update Service must be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS

  • Right to Work checks

  • Full safeguarding and compliance checks
