A prestigious and well-established organisation based in Newcastle is seeking an experienced accountant to join their finance team on a 6-9 month fixed-term contract commencing in September.This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to gain experience within a high-profile business environment, working alongside a collaborative and supportive finance team. The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide flexible cover across the Financial Accounting team to enable colleagues to participate in system implementation activities
• Support the transition by maintaining business-as-usual finance operations by covering daily tasks and month-end closure.
• Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:
• Preparing and posting journals for UK entities, liaising with departments and other finance team members where necessary
• Cost centre reviews including preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments
• Managing recharges to and from departments and offices
• Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Analyse monthly financial results and investigate variances
• Assist with project work and ad-hoc reporting as agreed by the Financial Controller
• Working closely with stakeholders across the business to provide financial support and guidance
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within the finance function

About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) (essential)
• Experience in similar roles and with a proven ability to quickly understand existing processes (essential)
• SAP system knowledge (preferred)
• Strong Excel skills (desirable)
• Proven track record of managing and delivering against deadlines (preferred)
• Working within a large, process-driven business (preferred)
