Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover) in Kingston upon Hull

Kingston Recruitment are currently looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation on a maternity cover contract. The role can be based in West Hull and offers a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Working as part of a wider finance function, you will take ownership of the end-to-end General Ledger process, ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance with accounting standards. You will also work closely with stakeholders and finance teams across different locations throughout Europe..

THE ROLE

As Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Owning the end-to-end General Ledger process, from transactions through to final reporting.
• Reconciling accounts, posting journal entries and maintaining an accurate General Ledger.
• Preparing and analysing financial information, including P&L, balance sheets, cash flow and other financial reports.
• Delivering accurate financial statements and reconciliations in line with reporting requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal controls, company policies and relevant accounting legislation.
• Providing technical accounting advice and acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders.
• Working closely with finance colleagues and teams across Europe and other locations.
• Performing quality checks and helping to ensure accounting processes are delivered in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
• Supporting internal and external audits and helping to resolve any audit findings.
• Identifying inefficiencies and contributing to improvements across accounting processes.
• Supporting the implementation of effective solutions and driving quality and efficiency within the finance function.
• Acting as a key contact for accounting queries and escalating issues where appropriate.
• Coaching and supporting colleagues to help strengthen capability within the wider team.
• Maintaining strong working relationships with Business Unit Controlling teams and other key business contacts.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Financial Accountant, with strong General Ledger experience.
• A professionally recognised accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA, or be part-qualified.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and audit processes.
• Experience using SAP ECC/S4 and Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
• Previous experience working within a cross-cultural, matrix organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative approach and confidence working with colleagues and teams across different locations.
• A commitment to accuracy, compliance, integrity and strong business ethics.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and developing others.
