Financial Accountant in Cambridge

Working closely with the Finance Manager and colleagues across the wider business, you’ll play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting while providing the insight and information used to support commercial and operational decision-making.
You’ll take ownership of several key areas of the balance sheet and month-end process, including:
- Managing inventory and stock accounting, including provisions, stock turnover analysis and reporting
- Preparing inventory reporting and working closely with operational stakeholders
- Maintaining and reconciling capitalised R&D projects
- Working with project teams to assess the appropriate accounting treatment of development expenditure
- Taking responsibility for the fixed asset register
- Preparing and reviewing accruals and prepayments
- Owning monthly revenue and gross margin reconciliations
- Maintaining deferred revenue schedules
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Finance team
Alongside your monthly responsibilities, you’ll gain broad exposure to year-end and statutory accounting, including:
- Supporting the preparation of UK statutory financial statements
- Preparing statutory reporting schedules and supporting data
- Reviewing accounting policies and ensuring compliance with relevant reporting standards
- Liaising with overseas accounting providers in relation to subsidiary entities
- Supporting the annual external audit and acting as a key contact for auditors
- Assisting with UK tax computations and responding to external tax advisers
- Supporting R&D-related tax claims
- Taking ownership of annual warranty provision calculations
