Adapro Talent Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering a Milton Keynes based manufacturing/construction business with their recruitment of a Financial Controller to cover a period of 12 Month's Maternity Leave.
The Financial Controller will be a technical, professional and outward-facing finance leader who is experienced at providing full financial, accounting, reporting and credit management service to a group of businesses. The role will work closely with functional heads to manage cost, margin, working capital and credit risk, while ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, statutory, tax and Group reporting requirements. The Financial Controller will also play a key role in business planning, reporting, risk management and continuous improvement across the UK business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the monthly close and reporting process within defined timescales for all subsidiaries.
- Responsibility for monthly management information and analysis including P&L, Working Capital, Balance Sheet, Cost Variances, KPIs and margin analysis.
- Continuous development of reporting tools to meet evolving business and management information requirements.
- Assist the Finance Director in leading the strategic planning, annual budget and rolling forecast processes, providing analysis on key performance drivers.
- Maintain full balance sheet account reconciliations at each month end and highlight issues and risks to the Finance Director.
- Analysis and investigation of margin performance across market segments, customers and products, highlighting drivers of variance to budget, forecast and prior year.
- Maintain strong communication with Group based in Europe, ensuring alignment with Group reporting and policy requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors and advisors in preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax, VAT and PAYE returns.
- Monitor capital expenditure against budget and maintain control of approval processes and invoice recording.
- Maintain the UK chart of accounts and cost centre structure in line with business requirements.
- Manage Accounts Payable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain high levels of integrity, credibility and quality in financial data and reporting provided to the business.
- Keep up-to-date with AI changes and utilise within the finance team to drive efficiencies.
- Work alongside the Finance Director on ad hoc projects focused on system integration, reporting improvements and performance enhancement.
- Management and development of the finance and credit control teams, including recruitment, appraisals, absence and performance management.
The successful Candidate will be a Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) who possesses strong experience of working within a commercial accounting and financial reporting environment. They will have excellent knowledge of UK GAAP and experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar). This role will require someone who has the ability to see the bigger picture outside of day-to-day activities, and is comfortable challenging the status quo. Exceptional communication and leadership qualities are a pre-requisite.
