Rise10 Recruitment are currently supporting a dynamic and growing Group business with the appointment of a Commercial Financial Controller on a short-term interim basis.

This opportunity is open to experienced finance professionals seeking either a temporary PAYE assignment or an Inside IR35 contract engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, improving financial processes, and providing valuable commercial insight to support business performance.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help strengthen financial controls, enhance reporting capabilities, and support the continued growth of a diverse organisation operating across multiple business areas.

The Role

As Commercial Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial information, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring effective financial processes are maintained across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including Group consolidation reporting
• Producing financial variance and trend analysis across business units
• Developing and maintaining financial models to support forecasting and budgeting
• Providing clear financial insight to support commercial decision-making

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

• Identifying opportunities for automation and improvements within finance processes
• Supporting continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting infrastructure
• Collaborating with finance, IT and operational teams to define system requirements and workflows
• Supporting the implementation of improved processes and best practice across the business

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Supporting the preparation of annual budgets alongside the Finance Director
• Maintaining rolling forecasts, including cash flow forecasting
• Monitoring financial performance against agreed budgets and targets

Operational Finance

• Overseeing job costing analysis
• Supporting effective management of sales and purchase ledger functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments
• Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are accurately reconciled and maintained
• Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders
• Preparing information for external auditors and tax advisors during the year-end process
• Ensuring accurate compliance records are maintained, including HMRC and CIS reporting requirements
• Overseeing accurate payroll records

Team Leadership

• Managing, supporting and mentoring finance team members
• Encouraging strong financial controls, collaboration and continuous improvement

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who can quickly add value within a commercial and fast-paced environment.

You will ideally have:

• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualified experience
• Strong experience in financial reporting, analysis and Group consolidation
• Experience working with financial systems such as SAP and Xero
• A strong understanding of accounting principles, including consolidated P&L and balance sheet reporting
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, formulas and manipulating data from multiple sources
• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills
• Experience leading, managing or mentoring finance professionals
