Fire Alarm Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced and technically capable Fire Alarm Engineer to join our client’s team, working across commercial and industrial environments. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering, maintaining and supporting dependable fire detection and alarm systems that meet high standards of safety, performance and compliance.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied range of projects, from new installations and system upgrades through to fault finding, servicing and commissioning. The role would suit someone with a solid electrical background who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys solving technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and amend fire alarm system drawings and layouts using CAD software.
- Carry out installation, commissioning, servicing and fault diagnosis of fire alarm systems.
- Work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation to complete installations accurately.
- Inspect, test and verify fire alarm equipment, including detection devices, control panels, sounders, interfaces and associated power supplies.
- Work alongside contractors and other trades to coordinate fire alarm installations within new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Identify faults and implement effective solutions to keep systems operating safely and reliably.
- Complete service records, test documentation and other relevant project paperwork.
- Ensure installations and maintenance activities are carried out in line with applicable legislation, industry standards and site safety requirements.
- Assist with system alterations, extensions and upgrades where required.
- Provide professional technical assistance to customers, colleagues and other project stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with fire alarm, fire detection or other life-safety systems.
- A strong electrical background, ideally gained within commercial, industrial or construction environments.
- Good understanding of electrical installation, testing and fault-finding principles.
- Confident reading electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using CAD or similar drawing software would be advantageous.
- Practical ability with standard hand and power tools and electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge of fire alarm regulations, relevant building requirements and industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when testing, commissioning and documenting systems.
- Ability to manage tasks independently while also working effectively with site teams and contractors.
- A professional, safety-conscious approach and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
