Fire Alarm Engineer - Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Servicing: Perform planned preventative maintenance on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Fault Finding: Diagnose and repair electrical issues, device failures, or panel errors.
  • Installation & Small Works: Fit new loops, sounders, call points, or complete full system commissioning.
  • Compliance Testing: Check emergency lighting and fire suppression interfaces.
  • Documentation: Complete accurate service sheets, certificates, and logbook updates.
  • Call-Out: urgent reactive callouts sometimes required.

Fire Alarm Engineer - Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven field background in fire alarm maintenance or installation.
  • Standards Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of BS 5839 and related health and safety rules.
  • DBS - Fire alarm engineers preferably need to be DBS checked and dependant on work offered will require an enhanced DBS if offered Schools etc. 
  • Licence: Full valid driving licence.
  • Certifications: Fire Industry Association (FIA) modules or equivalent trade qualifications.
  • Skills: All Fire alarm engineer applicants need to have, good problem-solving abilities and clear customer communication.
