The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join an established fire and security business experiencing continued growth within its service department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in fire alarm and emergency lighting maintenance who enjoys working independently, providing excellent customer service and delivering high-quality technical work.
You will cover a range of customer sites across Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton and the surrounding areas, with travel towards London as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair fire alarm and emergency lighting systems across customer sites.
- Carry out inspections, testing, fault finding, breakdowns and remedial works.
- Complete occasional minor works and system improvements.
- Work on addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and produce detailed technical reports.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, including BS 5839-1 and BS 5266-1.
- Work on associated systems, which may include aspirating detection, beam and flame detection, disabled refuge alarms, disabled toilet alarms and nurse call systems.
- Build positive relationships with customers and deliver a professional, reliable service.
- Previous experience in a fire alarm service or maintenance role is essential.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of fire alarm systems, including addressable and conventional systems.
- Knowledge of emergency lighting maintenance and testing.
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience with aspirating detection systems would be advantageous.
- An EAL Level 3 or FIA qualification would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel across the designated area, including occasional overnight stays if required.
What's on Offer?
- Basic salary of up to £40,000, dependent on experience.

- Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (40 hours per week).
