The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service & Small Works Engineer to join a well-established and growing fire and security business covering Reading, West London, and the surrounding areas. This is a field-based role responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and small works installation of fire alarm systems across a variety of commercial, healthcare, education, and public sector sites. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive team with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire safety solutions and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Complete small works installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Commission fire alarm systems where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
  • Produce accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers on-site.
  • Participate in an on-call rota when required.
Systems Experience
Experience with one or more of the following manufacturers would be advantageous:
  • Advanced
  • Kentec
  • C-Tec
  • Morley
  • Gent
  • Notifier
  • Apollo
  • Hochiki
  • Hyfire
  • EMS
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, Fire Alarm Installation Engineer, Fire & Security Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of BS 5839 standards.
  • Experience carrying out both service and small works activities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • FIA, Zzeus (or similar) training would be advantageous, but training can be provided post-probation.
