The Role
As our Fire Door Estimator / Surveyor / Scheduler, you will be responsible for assessing project requirements, preparing accurate quotations and specifications, scheduling works, coordinating manufacturer orders, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and compliantly.
Working closely with customers, surveyors, manufacturers, and installation teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring successful project delivery while providing exceptional customer service throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating and Pricing Projects
- Review customer enquiries, survey reports, specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
- Produce accurate and competitive quotations for fire door installations, replacements, remedial works, and maintenance contracts.
- Calculate labour, material, manufacturing, and subcontractor costs to ensure profitable project delivery.
- Liaise with customers and internal teams to clarify project requirements and technical specifications.
- Prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation where required.
- Assist in developing project-specific fire door schedules and specifications.
Survey Review and Project Coordination
Interpret fire door survey reports and technical information to determine appropriate remedial actions and specifications.
Ensure all doorsets, ironmongery, seals, glazing, and associated components meet current fire safety legislation and certification requirements.
Schedule works and coordinate project timelines with customers, installation teams, and suppliers.
Place and manage orders with manufacturers, ensuring specifications are accurate and delivery schedules are monitored.
Maintain accurate project records and provide clients with regular progress updates.
Support the smooth delivery of projects from quotation stage through to completion.
Client Relationship Management
Build strong, lasting relationships with clients through professional communication and exceptional service.
Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify opportunities to add value for clients and support business growth.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Ranger Fire & Security Group to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience within the fire door, passive fire protection, construction, facilities management, or building maintenance sectors.
Strong understanding of fire door regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
Ability to interpret survey reports, technical drawings, and project specifications.
Experience preparing quotations, estimates, and project costings.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and estimating software.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Experience conducting fire door inspections or surveys.
Knowledge of BM TRADA, FIRAS, IFC, or other recognised fire door certification schemes.
Relevant qualifications in construction, surveying, fire safety, passive fire protection, or a related discipline.
Experience working with fire door manufacturers and certification requirements.
