The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly technical and well-regarded specialist fire door contractor delivering remediation, maintenance and replacement projects across London and the UK. The business operates primarily across the private residential and commercial sectors, with projects spanning London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. They also manufacture some doors through their own production facility, giving candidates exposure to the full lifecycle of fire door works.

This is a business that takes compliance and quality extremely seriously — everyone from Directors through to Site Managers understands surveying, BM TRADA standards and fire door legislation inside out. 

The Role

As Fire Door Site Manager, this is a hands-on delivery role. Initially you will manage one live project, with the expectation that once a project is established and running smoothly you will oversee additional sites, particularly those that are subcontractor-led. Projects range from a small team of 2 operatives through to 8–10 people on site across a mix of direct labour and subcontractors. Larger projects of around £1 million will have a dedicated Site Manager throughout.

You will be responsible for delivering fire door installation, remediation and maintenance projects to BM TRADA standards, managing subcontractors and direct labour, conducting surveys where required and maintaining the high levels of documentation and compliance expected across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage fire door installation, maintenance and remediation projects from mobilisation through to completion
  • Supervise subcontractors and direct labour across live sites
  • Ensure compliance with BM TRADA standards and fire door legislation at all times
  • Carry out fire door surveys where required
  • Train new subcontract teams on company processes and quality expectations
  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare projects for internal and external audits
  • Coordinate materials, plant and labour to maintain programme
  • Liaise with the Project Manager and Assistant PM regarding programme, progress and technical matters
  • Maintain accurate, detailed site records and documentation throughout
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across all sites

What We're Looking For

  • Strong, genuine knowledge of fire door compliance and BM TRADA standards — essential
  • Understanding of fire door surveying and compliance — essential
  • Comfortable managing subcontractors and mixed labour teams
  • Strong attention to detail — documentation and compliance are critical in this business
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Own vehicle required — business mileage between sites reimbursed (no fuel card for commuting within M25)
  • Full UK Driving Licence — required
  • CSCS Card — required
  • SMSTS — preferred
