Braxfield Recruitment is currently working with a well-established housing provider to recruit an experienced Fire Safety Surveyor for a 12 month fixed term contract
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and professional fire safety team, taking responsibility for overseeing fire risk assessment actions across a diverse residential property portfolio and ensuring the highest standards of statutory compliance.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing fire risk assessment actions, ensuring remedial works are completed within agreed timescales.
- Inspecting residential properties to ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Identifying fire safety defects, preparing detailed specifications and recommending appropriate remedial solutions.
- Undertaking post-inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure works are completed to the required standard.
- Monitoring contractors on site, carrying out health and safety spot checks and ensuring compliance with RAMS and current legislation.
- Building positive working relationships with residents, leaseholders, contractors and internal stakeholders while delivering a high standard of customer service.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining home working with regular site inspections and occasional office attendance. Travel across the organisation's housing portfolio will be required, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
About You
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
- Experience as a Fire Safety or Building Surveyor within a maintenance or residential property environment.
- Experience carrying out both pre- and post-inspections.
- A recognised fire safety qualification such as NEBOSH Fire or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Experience managing contractors across both Schedule of Rates (SOR) and non-SOR contracts.
- The ability to produce detailed specifications and scopes of work.
- A sound understanding of current building regulations, fire safety legislation, construction methods and building defects.
- Contract management experience.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, CIOB, IFE or equivalent.
