Summary: Interim Fire Safety Works Manager to lead an in-house fire safety team for a social housing provider in Buckinghamshire. You’ll cover servicing, FRA remediation and flat entrance doors (FEDs). £550 – £600/day inside IR35, 6 months+.
Description:
Braxfield Recruitment is working with a social housing provider in Buckinghamshire to find an interim Fire Safety Works Manager for 6 months or more.
You’ll lead the in-house team that delivers the organisation’s fire safety programme. That covers servicing, remedial works from Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), and the inspection, repair and replacement of flat entrance doors (FEDs). You’ll be responsible for both active and passive fire safety, so the role carries real influence over resident safety and compliance.
The team
You’ll manage a multi-skilled team made up of:
- A fire alarm technician
- 2 senior carpenters, who each manage a team of carpenters
- Senior and contract support coordinators, who plan and administer passive fire works, active fire works and FEDs across servicing and remedials
The role
- Manage all fire safety servicing, FRA remediation and FED works across the housing stock
- Lead, motivate and develop the in-house team, managing performance, productivity and quality
- Plan and prioritise works programmes so FRA actions are completed on time and by risk
- Oversee active fire safety works, including fire alarms, emergency lighting and AOVs, and passive fire safety works, including fire stopping, compartmentation and fire doors
- Make sure works meet current legislation, specifications and the regulator’s expectations
- Monitor budgets, performance indicators and compliance data, and report to senior management
- Work closely with the building safety, compliance and asset management teams
About you
- Experience managing a small DLO or in-house operative team, ideally in social housing
- Experience delivering fire remedial works, active and/or passive
- Good knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and the Building Safety Act
- A good understanding of fire door requirements, including FED inspection and replacement
- Strong leadership skills, and comfortable managing trades, coordinators and performance
- A relevant fire safety or construction qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Fire, IFE, or a fire door or passive fire qualification) is an advantage
What’s on offer
- £550 – £600 per day, inside IR35
- Hybrid working, 2 days a week in the office
- An initial 6-month contract, with scope to extend
- The chance to lead and shape an in-house fire safety service
