Fire & Security Engineer

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £35,000–£48,000 per annum, depending on experience

Optima Site Solutions is recruiting an experienced
Fire & Security Engineer on behalf of an established contractor delivering fire and security solutions across commercial and industrial environments.

The successful engineer will work across a varied portfolio of sites, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding, remedial works and installations across fire and security systems.

The client is particularly interested in experienced engineers capable of progressing towards or operating at lead-engineer level, with training available for the right candidate.

The RoleAs a Fire & Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of fire and security systems
  • Reactive call-outs, fault finding and repairs
  • Diagnosing faults and providing safe, compliant solutions
  • Completing remedial works and system installations
  • Working across fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access control systems
  • Providing clear technical updates to customers and site contacts
  • Completing accurate service reports and documentation
  • Participating in the on-call rota, approximately 1 week in every 3
You will work with a range of established fire and security manufacturers and technologies, with training available on selected systems where required.

Essential RequirementsTo be considered, you should have:
  • At least 4 years' experience within fire and/or security engineering
  • Experience servicing, maintaining and fault finding fire and/or security systems
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • Good time management and logical fault-finding ability
  • Working knowledge of IP and IT networking
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
  • IPAF certification
  • Wireless fire alarm system experience
  • Experience with Hyfire and/or Sygno-fi systems
  • SSSTS qualification
  • Asbestos Awareness certification
  • AOV system experience
Training is available for selected qualifications and systems.
