Fire & Security Service Engineer

The Opportunity

An established and growing fire and security business is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Service Engineer to join its team, covering Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

This is a varied, field-based role suited to an engineer who is confident working independently across fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV and access control systems.

You will be responsible for planned servicing and maintenance, fault-finding and repairs, as well as system takeovers and remedial works. The role also involves regular customer contact, so the ability to communicate professionally and provide clear technical advice is important.

The customer base includes schools, commercial premises, offices and other organisations, providing a varied workload across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV and access control systems.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
  • Carry out system takeovers and assess existing installations.
  • Identify remedial works, system improvements and upgrade requirements.
  • Explain faults, recommendations and completed works clearly to customers.
  • Complete accurate service reports, job sheets and system records.
  • Keep asset information and site documentation up to date.
  • Work in accordance with relevant British Standards, BAFE, SSAIB and company procedures.
  • Manage your own daily workload and service visits effectively.
  • Maintain a professional standard when working on customer premises.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.

Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Fire & Security Service Engineer, with strong practical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.

Essential:

Proven experience servicing and maintaining fire and security systems.

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Good knowledge of fire alarm and electronic security systems.

Ability to work independently and manage service visits.

Good customer service and communication skills.

Professional approach to paperwork, reporting and compliance.

Full UK driving licence.

Dahua

Relevant FIA training, electrical qualifications and manufacturer-specific training would also be advantageous.

The Working Environment

The role is predominantly field-based, covering Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

You will work across a range of customer environments, including schools, offices, commercial premises and other sensitive sites.

Due to the nature of the customer base, the successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
