Fleet Compliance Officer
Salary: £36,000 – £37,000 per annum
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week
Job Purpose
To ensure compliance in the delivery of Fleet Services functions through effective monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement of transport operations, systems, and procedures. The postholder will provide specialist advice and support on transport compliance matters while acting as a key liaison between Fleet Services and external organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance in the delivery of the functions of the Fleet Services Team.
- Provide advice and support in respect of transport policies, procedures, and transport compliance requirements.
- Ensure the continuous development of effective and progressive information management systems.
- Support interaction and liaison between Fleet Services and external organisations, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Act as the lead officer within the Fleet Services Team for compliance-related matters.
- Produce high-quality statistical data, reports, and draft recommendations for management review.
- Identify and implement improvements to transport systems, procedures, and operational practices.
- Monitor and report on compliance relating to operator licences, driver licences, vehicle documentation, and the safe operation of the fleet.
- Support incident investigations for health and safety purposes, ensuring appropriate records and actions are maintained.
- Lead team briefings and staff meetings, including the preparation and distribution of meeting notes and actions.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and ensure all documentation is kept up to date.
- Support audits and inspections relating to transport and fleet compliance.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Qualification relating to Transport Management Certificate (or equivalent relevant qualification).
- Full valid driving licence.
Essential Experience
- Experience in workplace planning and coordination.
- Experience of data analysis and producing statistical reports.
- Experience in transport compliance and fleet operations.
- Experience of monitoring compliance systems and procedures.
- Experience of preparing reports and recommendations for management.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance standards, and fleet operations.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external organisations.
- Strong IT skills, including the use of management information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
Desirable
- Experience supporting health and safety investigations.
- Knowledge of operator licence compliance requirements.
- Experience working within a public sector or regulated transport environment.
