Salary: £60,000 + Company vehicle or allowance where applicable
Location: Coventry (Hybrid role 3 days off / 2 days home working Mon & Fri)

Maintenance Control Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fleet Maintenance professional to join a fast-paced and growing operation overseeing the maintenance performance of a large commercial vehicle fleet.
This role is ideal for someone with strong HGV technical knowledge, leadership experience and a proactive approach to fleet performance, maintenance control and cost management.
You’ll play a key role in maximising fleet uptime, controlling maintenance spend, improving operational efficiency and ensuring vehicles remain fully compliant with all DVSA and operator licence requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Control Manager
- Lead and manage the day-to-day fleet maintenance control operation across HGV, LCV, PSV, or municipal vehicle fleets
- Lead, motivate and support 5 maintenance controllers
- Oversee servicing, inspections, MOT preparation, repairs and defect management processes
- Monitor and control daily maintenance & repair (M&R) spend across multiple revenue streams
- Analyse KPI data and implement strategies to reduce fleet maintenance costs and improve efficiency
- Minimise vehicle downtime and maximise fleet availability through proactive planning and coordination
- Manage workshop activity, maintenance schedules and job allocation priorities
- Liaise with workshops, mobile technicians, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, PMI schedules, health & safety standards and operator licence requirements
- Oversee maintenance records, audit documentation and defect reporting systems
- Support breakdown management and emergency repair coordination
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations and fleet performance
- Previous experience in a Fleet Maintenance Manager, Workshop Controller, Fleet Controller, Maintenance Controller or similar role
- Strong technical knowledge of HGV, PSV, LCV, or municipal vehicle maintenance
- Excellent understanding of DVSA compliance, PMI schedules, MOT standards, and O-Licence requirements
- Experience managing workshop operations, fleet maintenance systems and repair networks
- Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills as you will be managing a team of 5 maintenance controllers
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within a fast-moving operational environment
- Commercial awareness with experience controlling maintenance costs and supplier performance
- IT literate with experience using workshop or fleet management systems
- IRTEC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent mechanical qualification desirable
