Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5hrs between 7am-5pm
Salary: £40,000
Location: Coventry (Hybrid role 3 days off / 2 days home working Mon & Fri)

Maintenance Controller Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV / LGV maintenance professional to join a fast-paced and highly supportive fleet operation in a hybrid office-based role.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in commercial vehicle maintenance who enjoys problem solving, supplier management and keeping fleets moving efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.
You’ll play a key role in managing scheduled and reactive maintenance, minimising vehicle downtime, controlling repair costs and building strong working relationships with suppliers and customers alike.
Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Controller
- Manage and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for HGV & LGV fleets
- Proactively reduce vehicle downtime (VOR) and return vehicles to service quickly and efficiently
- Authorise repairs while ensuring all work meets quality, compliance and budget standards
- Review vehicle history, warranties and repair records to minimise unnecessary costs
- Liaise daily with suppliers, workshops, repairers and customers to ensure smooth operations
- Negotiate repair costs in line with supplier agreements and national parts pricing
- Monitor fleet maintenance spend and support KPI performance targets
- Source parts where required to reduce downtime and speed up repairs
- Support maintenance teams, supplier advisors and customer coordinators within a busy service environment
- Escalate unresolved technical or supplier issues where necessary
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, and cost tracking for warranty and goodwill claims
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and customers while delivering excellent service standards
- Previous experience as an HGV/LGV Technician, Workshop Controller or within a maintenance control environment
- Strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance standards and repair processes
- Experience managing fleet maintenance, scheduling, VOR control or contractor repair networks
- Excellent knowledge of repair times, maintenance costs and cost control processes
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and see tasks through to completion
- IT literate with experience using Excel and reporting systems
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Experience with Audatex or bodyshop repair processes would be advantageous but not essential
