Aka Recruitment are proud to be working with a fantastic client of ours, to bring you this exciting Fleet Maintenance Controller  opportunity. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to join a well-established business, supporting the smooth and cost-effective maintenance of a busy car and commercial vehicle fleet.  Based in Harrogate, the role offers Monday–Friday working hours, 08:30–17:30, with a salary starting from £29,000 depending on experience.  Working as part of a supportive team, you will use your technical knowledge and automotive experience to authorise repairs, control maintenance spend and provide an exceptional level of customer service.

Job Duties Include:

  • Authorise maintenance and repair work promptly, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
  • Support customers and drivers with SMR queries in a helpful, friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate customer and vehicle records, ensuring all data is current and compliant.
  • Manage service recalls and MOT reminders within company guidelines.
  • Process maintenance and repair invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Use your technical knowledge to assess repair requirements and make informed decisions regarding maintenance and repair work.
  • Stay up to date with technical bulletins and industry developments to support effective decision-making.
  • Liaise with customers, drivers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Monitor maintenance activity and spend, ensuring costs remain controlled and within company guidelines.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records throughout the maintenance process.
  • Support the wider fleet and maintenance team as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within an automotive maintenance, fleet or vehicle-related environment.
  • Strong automotive technical knowledge and understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, drivers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound, confident decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and proactive approach.
  • Good understanding of maintenance costs and the importance of cost control.
  • Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Professional, customer-focused approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
