Fleet Manager - Permanent Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fleet Manager to join a fast-paced retail logistics and delivery operation based in Chessington, KT9.

This is a hands-on management role for an experienced fleet professional who can take ownership of daily operations from day one. You will be responsible for managing a transport driver team, overseeing fleet operations, ensuring legal compliance and supporting efficient delivery performance.

The ideal candidate will have proven people management experience alongside strong operational knowledge, with the ability to lead, develop and engage a driver team while managing day-to-day logistics operations.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop a team of drivers, including recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, 1-to-1s and performance discussions
• Lead regular team meetings and maintain strong driver engagement and communication
• Oversee daily fleet and transport operations, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule
• Manage delivery schedules, fixed routes and operational priorities
• Support peak planning, seasonal changes and new store opening logistics
• Work closely with internal teams to resolve operational issues and deliver effective solutions
• Maintain fleet compliance, including vehicle checks, servicing, maintenance and legal requirements
• Monitor fleet performance and produce operational reports using Microsoft Office
• Support driver resource planning, including seasonal recruitment and equipment requirements
• Provide operational support when required, including vehicle movements and operational cover

Requirements:

• Proven experience in fleet management, transport operations or logistics operations management
• Strong people management experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a driver team
• Previous experience managing transport drivers and daily operational activities
• Experience within retail distribution, B2B logistics or store delivery operations preferred
• Knowledge of route planning, delivery schedules and seasonal operational demands
• Full UK driving licence with previous experience driving a Luton van required, with the ability to move vehicles and support operations when required
• Strong understanding of fleet compliance, vehicle management and transport operations
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage with drivers, colleagues and management stakeholders
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and fleet reporting systems
• Positive, proactive and solutions-focused approach

💷 Salary: £40,000+ per annum (DOE)
