P&S Care & Support is recruiting on behalf of an established community-based organisation for a Flexible Support Worker to join their team in Greenwich.
This is an opportunity for an experienced support worker to work with adults experiencing enduring mental health needs, providing practical, emotional and social support to help individuals build confidence, develop independence and work towards their personal recovery goals.
The Role
As a Flexible Support Worker, you will work directly with clients in their homes and within the community. You will build positive and professional relationships with individuals, helping them identify their own goals and supporting them to make progress towards greater independence.
The role involves providing practical guidance and emotional support, assisting with housing-related matters, benefits and access to community services. You will also support clients to develop everyday living skills and access education, employment, social and rehabilitation opportunities where appropriate.
You will work closely with colleagues and external agencies involved in each individual's support, which may include health professionals, housing providers and other community services. The role will also involve maintaining accurate records, support plans and risk assessments and monitoring progress against agreed outcomes.
You may be supporting individuals with complex needs or dual diagnosis, so the ability to recognise changes in wellbeing and understand when additional intervention may be required is important.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience of working with adults with enduring mental health needs, or within a similar support environment. You should have a genuine commitment to supporting people to achieve greater independence and be comfortable working with individuals who may have complex needs.
You will need to be a good communicator who can establish rapport with people from a range of backgrounds while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. You should also be confident working independently, managing your own workload and working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
An understanding of housing management, dual diagnosis, complex needs, the Mental Health Act and relevant housing legislation would be beneficial.
Working Pattern
This is a 37.5-hour-per-week position worked flexibly according to the needs of the service. The majority of shifts will be during daytime hours, although you will be required to work some evenings and weekends. There may also be occasions where shifts extend beyond 5pm.
You may, with reasonable notice, be required to provide cover across other services within the organisation.
Benefits
The role offers a workplace pension scheme, 22 days' annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after three years' service, and company sick pay following 12 months' continuous service.
Employees also have access to a range of benefits including discounts, wellbeing support, online GP services and gym savings, alongside mandatory training and opportunities for ongoing workforce development.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term position running from September 2026 until 30 June 2027. The salary is £28,937.70 per annum FTE and will be pro rata based on the successful candidate's contracted hours.
The successful candidate will be required to complete appropriate pre-employment checks, including Right to Work and Enhanced DBS checks. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short practical assessment based on a realistic client and support worker scenario.
