About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced FLT Driver (Counterbalance) to join a leading automotive manufacturing and logistics operation based in Washington, Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting the movement of materials and components essential to the manufacturing process.

The successful candidate will hold a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and have previous experience operating forklifts within a manufacturing, automotive, or warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
  • Loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring goods are handled correctly.
  • Supplying production lines with automotive components and raw materials.
  • Transporting finished goods between warehouse and production areas.
  • Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
  • Ensuring stock is stored accurately and safely within designated locations.
  • Completing associated paperwork and stock control documentation.
  • Adhering to all health and safety procedures and site regulations.
  • Supporting general warehouse and production activities when required.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Valid and in-date Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent).
  • Previous experience operating Counterbalance FLTs within a manufacturing, automotive, or logistics environment.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and meet production targets.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
  • Experience with SAP, warehouse management systems, or stock control processes would be advantageous.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Automotive sector experience.
  • Line-feed or production support experience.
  • Experience loading and unloading HGVs.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Just-In-Time (JIT) processes.
  • Additional FLT licences (Reach, VNA, etc.) would be beneficial but are not essential.
