Food Technician – Secondary School

Secondary School | 2–3 Days Per Week | September 2026 Start

We are currently recruiting for a Food Technician to join a busy and supportive Technology Department within a secondary school from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical food technology experience who enjoys working in an educational environment and wants to play a key role in supporting teachers and students.

The Role

As a Food Technician, you will provide essential day-to-day operational support to the Technology Department, helping to ensure that Food Technology and Textiles lessons run smoothly, safely and efficiently.

You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, equipment and ingredients for practical lessons, while ensuring high standards of health, safety and organisation are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for practical Food Technology lessons
  • Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions
  • Ensuring classrooms, kitchens and work areas are clean, safe and well organised
  • Maintaining and checking food technology equipment
  • Supporting the preparation and organisation of materials for Textiles lessons
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies when required
  • Ensuring appropriate food hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed
  • Helping teachers to create an engaging and well-prepared practical learning environment
  • Assisting with the general day-to-day running of the Technology Department
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has practical experience or knowledge of Food Technology
  • Is confident working with food, equipment and practical resources
  • Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Understands the importance of food hygiene and health & safety
  • Is reliable, proactive and able to work independently
  • Enjoys working with young people and supporting their learning
  • Would be confident supporting a secondary school Technology Department

Previous experience working within a school or education setting would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.

Start Date: September 2026
Working Pattern: 2–3 days per week

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
