Food Hub Assistant (Part-Time, 8 Hours per Week)

Are you passionate about helping people and making a difference in your local community? We’re looking for a friendly and proactive Food Hub Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our Food Hub in Harold Hill.

Working alongside the Food Hub Supervisor, you'll help deliver a welcoming and efficient service, support customers accessing affordable food, manage stock, assist with deliveries, and signpost people to additional support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and support Food Hub customers
  • Assist with food referrals and community support
  • Handle, store and distribute food safely
  • Support stock control, deliveries and cash handling
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold health & safety standards

About You

  • Experience in a customer-facing role (retail, hospitality, warehouse or similar)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Friendly, reliable and community-focused
  • Food hygiene knowledge and a full UK driving licence are desirable

Working Pattern

  • Part-time, 8 hours per week
  • Flexible working across Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Typical shifts: 9am to 4pm (Food Hub open 1pm to 4pm)
