Food Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out food hygiene inspections in line with current legislation and statutory guidance.
- Undertake food standards inspections across a variety of food premises.
- Manage a varied caseload, prioritising workloads effectively to meet service demands.
- Provide advice and guidance to food business operators to support compliance.
- Complete inspection reports, enforcement actions and associated casework.
- Contribute to the delivery of the authority's food safety and public protection objectives.
- Competent and authorised to carry out both food hygiene and food standards inspections.
- Previous local authority experience within food safety or environmental health.
- Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
- Strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to integrate quickly into an established team.
- Full-time hours.
- Hybrid working arrangement.
- Initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.
