Are you passionate about food and enjoy working in a practical learning environment? Do you have excellent organisational skills and an interest in supporting students with practical Food & Nutrition lessons? We're looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Food Technician to support a secondary school on the Wirral, with an immediate opportunity available.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Food Technician to support the Food & Nutrition department with the preparation of practical lessons and activities. You'll work closely with teaching staff to prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources, while ensuring the food rooms are clean, organised, and safe for students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food lessons
* Support teachers and students during practical activities
* Maintain clean, organised, and safe food preparation areas
* Monitor and maintain food equipment and report any faults
* Manage stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and resources
* Ensure food hygiene, health and safety procedures are followed
* Support the smooth running of the Food & Nutrition department
What We're Looking For:
* Experience working in a food, catering, hospitality, or similar practical environment
* Good knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety
* Strong organisational and practical skills
* Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and students
* A reliable, proactive, and hands-on approach
* A genuine interest in food and practical education
* A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable (but not essential):
* Previous experience working within a school or education setting
* Food Hygiene qualification
* Experience supporting Food & Nutrition or GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition
