Are you passionate about Food Technology and enjoy working in a practical, school-based environment?

We are currently recruiting for a Food Technician to join a successful secondary school in Newham, East London. The successful candidate will work closely with the Food Technology department, helping teachers prepare and deliver engaging practical lessons while ensuring the food rooms are safe, clean and well organised.

As a Food Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for practical Food Technology lessons.

• Supporting teachers with the smooth running of practical lessons.

• Ensuring food rooms, kitchens and preparation areas are clean, tidy and ready for use.

• Maintaining and organising cooking equipment, utensils and resources.

• Checking and managing stock levels of ingredients and ordering supplies when required.

• Ensuring ingredients are stored correctly and safely.

• Supporting students with the safe use of cooking equipment and kitchen facilities.

• Following and promoting excellent food hygiene, health and safety procedures.

• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and workspaces.

• Assisting with practical demonstrations and classroom preparation.

• Supporting the Food Technology department with displays, resources and general administration where required.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working in a Food Technology, catering, hospitality or school environment.

• Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food hygiene.

• An understanding of health and safety within a practical kitchen environment.

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• The ability to manage stock, ingredients and equipment effectively.

• A practical and hands-on approach to work.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with students.

• Previous experience working in a secondary school would be advantageous but is not essential.
