The Priory & Shutter Door Company Limited is a leading manufacturer of roller shutter doors, roller garage doors, and aluminium roller shutter systems, supplying the trade and door industry throughout the UK.

We are committed to delivering high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and continuous innovation. Due to promotion, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Works Foreperson to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Smethwick.

The Role

As Works Foreperson, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day factory operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and support the production team while working closely with management to drive continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing operations.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the production team.
  • Work closely with the Works Manager to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with company quality standards.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety procedures throughout the factory.
  • Work alongside the Health & Safety Officer to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Monitor production schedules and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with the Storeman to ensure effective stock control and material availability.
  • Complete all required production and compliance paperwork accurately.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Assist in resolving production issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience within the roller shutter, industrial door, garage door, or similar manufacturing industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a manufacturing setting.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Desirable

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
