Fractional Commercial Finance Manager in Sheffield

Sewell Wallis is looking for a Commercial Finance & Growth Partner to work alongside the MD based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. You’ll scenario model new service offerings before they go to market and stress-test the numbers. You’ll then give a clear view on what’s viable, how to approach it and when to invest.

This is a new business backed by a large, well-established group. It has an exciting range of services, a driven Managing Director and growth that’s already exponential. Now it needs a commercial finance expert to help shape what comes next.

What will you be doing?

• Identifying and evaluating opportunities for growth
• Building financial models and business cases for new services, investment and expansion
• Advising on pricing, profitability, cash flow and working capital
• Developing commercial budgets and forecasts
• Assessing risk, potential returns and the financial impact of different decisions
• Making practical recommendations and helping present proposals to the Board
• Working closely with the wider group finance team

What skills do we need?

• Hands-on finance experience in a commercial business, ideally supporting an MD or business owner through growth and change
• Strong financial modelling and business case skills, combined with sound commercial judgement
• Experience using Power BI would be a distinct advantage but not a pre-requisite
• The confidence to challenge constructively and give a considered recommendation
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment where calculated risk-taking is encouraged
